The Port Authority of Heraklion has facilities, machinery and personnel on Piers III and IV, which can serve the movement of any general or bulk cargo (with pumps or piping) and containers. At the same time, it has outdoor storage space for the storage of containers, general cargo and a covered warehouse for packaged loads (in pallets, cartons, wooden, parcels, bags, etc.). Due to the operation of a customs service within the port, there is the possibility of handling and storing of imported/exported goods.

It also has a special, approved weighbridge for weighing the load or checking the weight of any vehicle. The weighing of goods trafficked from the port area whose handling or storage charges are calculated on the basis of their weight, is obligatory. Apart from the aforementioned cases, O.L.I. S.A. reserves the right to request the weighing of any cargo or car, in the context of monitoring of all transported goods from the port, or the verification of the declared items.
